What Constitutes a Dental Emergency?

We are here to help with a wide range of urgent dental problems, including:

  • Severe, persistent toothache
  • A broken, chipped, or fractured tooth
  • A tooth that has been knocked out
  • A lost filling or crown
  • An abscess (a painful, pimple-like swelling on your gum)
  • Uncontrolled bleeding after an extraction
  • Swelling in your face, jaw, or mouth

Immediate First Aid for Dental Emergencies

While you wait for your appointment, here are some things you can do:

  • For Toothache: Rinse your mouth with warm salt water and take over-the-counter painkillers (do not place aspirin directly on the tooth).
  • For a Knocked-Out Tooth: Handle the tooth by the crown (the chewing surface), not the root. If it's clean, try to gently place it back in the socket. If not, store it in a small container of milk or your own saliva and bring it with you. Time is critical.
  • For a Chipped or Broken Tooth: Rinse your mouth with warm water and apply a cold compress to the outside of your face to reduce swelling.
  • For a Lost Crown: Keep the crown in a safe place and bring it with you to your appointment.
